Fielding Linear Weights First Draft Formulas

* These formulas are not era-adjusted yet, so as of now they are just for all eras.  This is of course inaccurate because it provides some very screwy ratings for players in the 1900-1940 period.  I will continue to tinker with these and fix them accordingly. *

 

Assists plus Putouts divided by errors, divided by fixed number determined by fielders position is the generic formula for all fielders.  Some fielders have certain weights for something.  I’ll list the first draft formulas here.

2^nd Base:

Putouts plus Assists divided by errors (times 1.8) divided by 8

 

 

 

Shortstop:

Putouts plus Assists divided by errors, divided by 4

 

 

 

 

1^st Base/ Catcher:

Putouts plus Assists divided by errors, divided by 16

 

 

 

 

 

 

Outfielders:

Putouts plus Assists (times 3) divided by errors, divided by 8

 

 

 

 

^3rd Base

Putouts plus Assists divided by errors, divided by 3

 

 

 

 

 

 

These are just the first formulas and will continue to be edited for eras and a few other adjustments.  This is just to give you a general idea of what I'm working with here.
