Analyzing the Starting Pitcher Market

The Starting Pitchers mentioned in this post may or may not be traded, these are just some players having a chance off getting traded.

Cliff Lee

The 34 year old pitcher is the guy everybody would love to have.  However money is certainly a concern for some teams, and the ones that could pay what is needed for Lee are rebuilding, and the prospect cost is a concern for some teams also.  He is 10-4 with a 3.05 ERA this season, which is good for a 34 year old pitcher.  But like some of you may have noticed Lee is a bit different then most 34 year old starting pitchers...

Teams In:
The market for Lee has not really developed yet since it was just announced last night

Jake Peavy

Peavy is under control through 2014, and has an option for 2015, so if a team trades for him they have him past this year.  Peavy is 8-4 with a 4.28 ERA.  Remember though Wins-Losses should not be factors for how well a player is performing in a season.

Teams In:
Red Sox
Braves
A's
Cardinals
Mariners

4 out of 5 teams listed have more then a few good pitching prospects

I might do a Part 2 for this post
